Horse Photos

Photos of the horses that live with us now, and have graced our lives in the past.

Lenny - PJ Prophets Higher

Our stallion, Lenny, see more photos on the Stallion Page.

Rascal

Our senior, Rascal, has been with us nearly 20 years and is 31 years old now.  He's mellowed in his old age, but fully lived up to his name, well into his twenties, always stealing things, opening gates, teasing the other horses, and just generally being a pest. He's a real old character, and will be with us the rest of his days.  He's full retired now, but was going strong well into his 20's under saddle.

Amber

Amber is a TB mare we bought as a weanling and had fo rmany years before deciding that she needed a person of her own to bring her to her full potential and show her.  She was sold in foal to Lenny Fabruary '06, and had a lovely filly, that looks just like her, in her new home.  Both Mother and daughter are looking forward to a hunter/jumper career in their new home.

Roxy with her 2005 colt, Jack

Roxy (Most Appeal) is a 15.2H, 1992 black TB mare.  She had a brief racing career with a little over $8,000 in earnings and retired sound.  She is now a trail horse and broodmare for us.  She had two foals with our previous AQHA stallion, and lost a filly by Lenny in spring of '07.  She is not bred for 2008. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/most+appeal

Billy & Champ

Billy is a 16.1H 1992 TB gelding.  He never raced but was trained for the track.  He has been a trail horse for us, since 1995.  He likes to think he's the big boos man around the place.  He is shown here with our paint gelding, Champ.

Champ

Champ is a 16H paint gelding.  He is a real laid back guy who loves everybody.  Probably our calmest trail horse, and is great with kids and new riders.  Admittedly, not the prettiest horse on the farm, but you just gotta love him when you meet him, he's a big ol' sweetheart.

Stewart the donkey
We've had Stewart for many years, he's the class clown around here, but he's also great for keeping unwanted animals out of the fields.  Dogs, coyotes and such steer clear of him, even the barn cat gives him a wide berth, he will put his nose on her backside and push her along until she is out of "his" field.  He's not quite so gentle with dogs and other possible threats to his herd.  He's a love with people, and keeps the foals occupied playing for hours.
Peanut

Peanut 15.2H TB Mare by Golden Choice (1ST Queen's Plate Stakes, Prince of Wales Stakes, Niagara Handicap (G3), Rochester Cup Stakes, Buckeye Handicap. 2ND Midwest Championship Handicap. 3RD Breeders' Stakes, Plate Trial Stakes) out of Dirty Donna.  Peanut was never raced due to injuries sutained while training for the track.  You can view her pedigree by clicking on the photo or going to http://www.pedigreequery.com/don+dor

Sadly, we lost Peanut due to severe foaling complications this spring.  We were able to save her foal, Eddie.  We bottle raised him and we will be keeping him with us.  He's a great little colt, has his mother's sweet temperment, and just loves to be fussed over.  We really miss Peanut, she was one of the kindest mares we've ever owned.

Iza Impressive Gal (Zoe)

Zoe is a 1991 AQHA mare.  She is a big girl at 15.3H with a very solid build.  Due to a knee injury early in life, Zoe was not shown and is only broodmare sound.  She does throw lovely foals however, and is expecting her fifth foal sired by Lenny in May 2007.  You can view her pedigree by clicking on her photo or going to http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/iza+impressive+gal  As with all of our Impressive bred horses, Zoe is HyPP N/N.

Zoe's knee injury had begun to greatly impair her mobility, and we and our vet were concerned about her quality of life and the risk of further injury to her bad leg and/or the other legs from the strain they were under compensating for her bad knee.  She was humanely euthanized in October of 2007.  We will miss her!

Lotties Double
Lottie is a 2000 AQHA red dun halter bred mare.  She was unshown due to blemishes sustained as a filly, but is broke and sound to ride.  She is a big gorgeous mare who throws big gorgeous babies.  Her first foal, now a 3 year old is currently in training with Lottie's previous owner and doing well.  Her 2007 colt, is a big beautiful red dun sired by Lenny.
