HyPP Impressive was one of the greatest quarter horses of all time in his own career, as well as a very successful sire of many amazing animals. Unfortunately, a genetic defect he carried was passed to his offspring which can cause a neurological disease called HyPP. There is alot of mis-information out there about the disease, , we encourage you to go to this web site and read up on the facts regarding this disease http://www.bringinglighttohypp.org Education is the key to eliminating this disease, while preserving all of the other wonderful qualities of the impressive bloodlines. Misinformation about HyPP has caused many people to shy away from the Impressive lines out of fear. There is now a genetic test that shows definatively which horses do or do not carry the disease. Lenny is N/N (double negative) which means he does not carry the disease nor can he pass it along to his offspring. So long as a horse is tested to be N/N for HyPP, there is no risk of the disease. It cannot skip generations. In order to do our part in eliminating HyPP, we will not accept HyPP H/H (double positive) or N/H (negative / positive) mares for breeding. N/N mares only please. All Impressive bred mares must be genetic tested before we will book them for breeding. |

NFQHA Our research into having him NFQHA (National Foundation QH Assoc.) certified, shows him just short of the required 80% QH blood, at 78.5%, but when crossed on higher %age NFQHA mares, the foals would be eligible for NFQHA certification. The 78.5% is based on our own research, not the NFQHA, but we believe it to be fairly accurate. Lenny's foals are not FQHA eligible due to the Impressive bloodlines. |
